Steetley Plans Given Green Light

Plans by Laing O’Rourke to build a new off-site manufacturing facility at a derelict site in Steetley have been given the final go ahead and with it, 270 local jobs will soon be created. The facility will produce pre-cast concrete for use on Laing O’Rourke’s construction projects throughout the UK.

Local director for Laing O’Rourke, John Moran, said “we were delighted to hear the news and will now be pushing on at pace to begin the construction of our new factory at Steetley. When we announced our plans last year we received an enormous level of support from the local community because we were investing in the area and would be providing new opportunities for quality jobs. We can now live up to our promise and look forward to bringing our plans to fruition.”

Keith Isard, Portfolio Holder for Community Prosperity (and Planning) at the Council, added "this will provide a significant boost to the local economy. I am also looking forward to progress being made on the next phase of the development which will bring even more benefits to the local area.”
