Laing O’Rourke is celebrating
as RoSPA (Royal Society for the Prevention Accidents)
announce a trio of national
Occupational Health and Safety awards to be presented at
a ceremony in mid-May.
Demonstrating excellence in work-related
health and safety performance, Crown House Technologies,
Construction North
and the project at Middlesbrough College Campus have each
received RoSPA’s prestigious Occupational Health & Safety
Gold Award.
Having received the award for
the 18th consecutive year, Crown House Technologies will
also be awarded RoSPA’s
Order of Distinction. The Order of Distinction is awarded
to companies which demonstrate a sustained focus on the
safety and well-being of their workforce and have achieved
a minimum of 15 consecutive Gold Awards.
David Rawlins, RoSPA Awards Manager
said, ‘Crown
House Technologies Ltd has shown a commitment to protecting
the health and well-being of its employees and others.
We hope other businesses and organisations will follow
its lead and strive for continuous improvement in health
and safety management.”
On hearing the news of the 2008
award, Liam Cummins, Managing Director of Crown House
Technologies, said “I am
delighted that our efforts to get everyone home safely
every day have, again, been recognised by RoSPA. We believe
that ensuring the health and safety of our people is the
single most important activity for each one of us. The
RoSPA award is both recognition of our individual and collective
commitment and motivation to keep striving for performance
improvement.”
The Middlesbrough College project
was the only single project to win a gold award after
celebrating ¾ million
hours worked without a single reportable accident.
